The word BLOG is short for Web Log. BLOGs are cropping up all over the web. A BLOG is often a mixture of what is happening in a person’s life and what is happening on the Web, a kind of hybrid diary/guide site, although there are as many unique types of BLOGs as there are people.
People maintained BLOGs long before the term was coined, but the trend gained momentum with the introduction of automated published BLOG systems, of which this BLOG from WordPress is one.
In many ways, my What’s New and What’s New Archives pages were BLOGs. But they were monolithic, unsearchable, and unsortable. Also, they were monologues – me typing away and nothing else.
This BLOG allows me to organize my What’s New entries, allows you to search or sort them, AND it allows you to add your own comments to any of my entries! Comments are moderated – I get to screen them before they get posted – but now my ramblings and rants can be two-, three-, or more-way dialogues!
You can also sign up for emails when a new entry is posted, or get the BLOG entries delivered to you as an RSS feed so you can read them in an RSS reader (if you don’t know what that means, do a GOOGLE search on “RSS FEED” and see what you find).
